New charges for easyJet
Rebellious Ryanair have already side tracked the proposed abolition of credit and debit card surcharge by claiming the costs as an ‘administration fee’. But now EasyJet one of the Island’s operators have jumped on the same band wagon.
Last Thursday 12th January, easyJet replaced their £9 booking fee with the sneaky £9 ‘administration fee’, which they say contributes to administrative costs. Alongside this, bookings made by credit and charge cards will invite an additional fee of 2.5%. This means, that now customers will skip paying the debit card fee, but will be hit with the £9 admin fee. For customers using a visa electron, it will no longer be free and the admin charge will now apply.
easyJet have fully advertised this admin fee on the company’s website and openly show the £9 charge to customers after flights have been selected. EasyJet provide the Island with cheap fares starting at as little as £18.99 (one way) toLiverpool, but on top of this must now be added the “admin fee”.
